Yahoo, Excite, and the other major portal services all offer services for free, and eventually the technology will need to be in place so these companies can actually make money doing some of this cool stuff. I never understood how selling ads could generate profit on these huge sites, and in the end, that business model has proven not to work. So there needs to be a way to offer services and make money from those services.
